Welcome to a new school year! I am very excited to be here at the Hastings Middle School and even more excited to get to know you and your child. I just want to give you some information about myself.
My name is Megan Richter and I have been teaching in the field of Special Education since 2010. I was born and raised in Hastings and I graduated from Hastings High School in 2005. I continued my education at Winona State University where I obtained my Special Education Teaching License in both Learning Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities. My first year teaching Special Education was at Burnsville High School as a Resource Teacher. Since then, I have been teaching at Hastings Middle School working mostly with 5th grade students teaching reading, writing, math, and study skills. I am very excited about being able to come back home and teach in the community where I grew up.
On August 29th, 2015, I was lucky enough to marry my best friend Dan Richter. We have two children, Genevieve who is 2 years old and Leo who is 7 months old. We also have a dog named Ellie, who is an English Springer Spaniel and she definitely keeps us entertained. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my husband, kids, family, and friends, as well as watching a lot of movies! Some of my favorite hobbies include playing sand volleyball with my husband, playing in the women's power league for volleyball, and painting bean bag boards during the summer.
I look forward to meeting all of you and having a great year at Hastings Middle School!
